Meet Oneewa
Registered Music Therapist
Hello and welcome to Port Macquarie Music Therapy!
Music has always been deeply important and meaningful to me, a constant companion throughout my life.
I learned music from a young age, playing Beatles songs with my Dad at the piano. These days, nothing brings me more joy than sharing music with my two daughters. I see music as a meeting place, a point of connection between people.
We all appreciate music in deeply personal ways. As a music therapist, I aim to understand how each individual I work with experiences music, and how music may best support them on their journey towards health and wellness.
I hope you enjoy browsing this website, to see if my services might be a good fit for you or someone you care for.
My Background
I began my professional career as an Occupational Therapist in 2008. Since then, I’ve worked with individuals across the lifespan in a range of settings, supporting people to optimise their health, independence and quality of life.
I have always been fascinated by the therapeutic value of music and I have woven this through my work in many areas including aged care, child/adult disability, women’s wellness, end of life support and community mental health projects.
As a Music Therapist, I aim to create safe and supportive spaces for the people I work with. I incorporate a strength-based approach to my work and commit to meeting each person with a gentle, inclusive and curious attitude.

Music Therapy
Music Therapy is an allied health profession, in which music is used as the primary tool to actively support people as they strive to improve their health, functioning and well-being.
Music Therapists draw upon the innate qualities of music to support people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, whilst working towards individually tailored therapeutic goals.
Based on a foundation of client-centered care, Music Therapists use a variety of active and receptive methods designed to meet the needs of each unique individual or group they work with.
Registered Music Therapists
Music Therapists are registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and recognised by Allied Health Professions Australia.
Music Therapists hold master’s level University qualifications and maintain their skills through ongoing professional development as approved by the AMTA.

At the heart of Music Therapy is connection…
…supporting connection to self, to loved ones and to community.
